Near extremely fine, great depiction of Tiber, nice portrait, riverine patina.

For the Romans, the Tiber not only meant the border to defend against enemies, not only the connection to the wider world through shipping, but also fertility. That is why the river god was worshiped above all as the giver of life-bringing water. When there was drought, the cry "Adesto Tiberine cum tuis undis!" could be heard from everywhere. - Appear, Tiberinus, with your waves!
